Handmade Die Cut Cards

These are a few of the handmade cards I made over the weekend whilst working for Craft Habitat at the Creative Crafts show at Gateshead Stadium. I was demonstrating embossing, die cutting and colouring techniques. I used Tim Holtz distress inks to colour, Kreaxions dies to cut out the flowers/leaves & butterflies and embossing folders to create my backgrounds. I met lots of lovely people and received many fantastic comments, that’s why I love attending shows so much.

I will be teaching 5 workshops per day on a first come basis at the Creative Stitches & Hobbycrafts Show in Exeter this week. I will be on stand D11 the Pebeo Experience and the product will be on sale on stand D 29 theartshopskipton.com so if you would like to come to a workshop please visit our stand as soon as you arrive to book your seat as the places go very quickly. I am really looking forward to meeting lots of lovely people, so if you are in the area why not come along?

Creative Stitches and Hobbycrafts

We will be using Pebeo Fantasy paints which are fabulous and can be used on all non porous surfaces.

The Fantasy paints come in two different finishes, Prisme which has a freckled/speckled look and Moon which looks swirly.

Both have a pearlised almost metallic look and are great on metal jewellery and findings. They work very happily on many surfaces including glass, metal, wood, plastic, terracotta, shiny card ,acetate and pre-gessoed canvas.

The paint looks like a cross between nail varnish and enamel and can be painted/dropped/poured onto the surface depending on the desired thickness. The product doesn’t have to be fired or heat treated and hardens over time, touch dry in 24 hours, hardened in 72 hours and completely dry in  2-3 weeks.

The colours mix beautifully without going muddy and having experimented I find that Prisme is best mixed with Prisme and Moon best mixed with Moon as they have different formulations, however you can put the products next to each other as neighbours rather than best friends.

The effect you get can be quite unpredictable, but always looks fantastic.

Pebeo have a fabulous range of jewellery findings which are ideal for using with the Fantasy paint range and are stainless steel and rhodium plated.

I’m really looking forward to using these great products and if you can’t get to the show why not look out for them in your local Pebeo stockist

I was tidying up my desk this morning and found this brayered landscape hiding amongst all my papers so I thought I would post it today. I took the photo with my iPad. I used Adirondack dye ink for my background colours and Versafine ink to print the foliage and butterflies over the top. I finished off with a Gellyroll glaze pen and also a glue pen and added some glitter to catch the light. I always get a thrill when I create a picture on what was once a piece of plain white card.

Last Saturday I visited  Abakhan Stores at Mostyn in North Wales, please click this link to go to their website. I was demonstrating the Pebeo Fantasy range of paints from 10 am – 4 pm. The photograph above is of a 5 link bracelet into which I have placed several different colours of Pebeo Fantasy Prisme , the swirly pebbled effect develops after a little while to give this lovely finish. It was great to meet all the lovely people who came to the demonstration and the welcoming, enthusiastic staff who work there.

Hi everyone. This week I will be teaching 5 FREE workshops a day at NEC (National Exhibition Centre) Birmingham for Pebeo UK. I’m busy making samples at the moment and here are a few pictures to show you how I’m doing.

I have painted these buttons with Pebeo Fantasy Prisme and Moon paint

The lovely Catherine was my assistant this morning and painted these acrylic fragments for me. We added a few star, hearts and some glitter as well.

I outlined a heart shape with Pebeo Cerne Relief and then filled the inside with Pebeo Fantasy Prisme.

I drew my outline with Pebeo Cerne Relief and filled the heart with Pebeo Prisme in two colours. I hadn’t made too good a job and it leaked out a bit so I went around it again to contain the leak!!

Catherine outlined the heart with Pebeo Cerne Relief and filed it with Pebeo Moon.

Catherine outlined this heart with Pebeo Cerne Relief and filled it with 2 colours of Pebeo Fantasy Moon.

For this little canvas board I scraped the Pebeo Studio Acrylic paint colours across the board with a palette knife, added Pebeo Deco Touch and finished it off with Gold Leaves.

Another little sample using Pebeo Studio Acrylic, Pebeo Deco Touch and some gold and silver leaves.

I love this little sample. I tried to make it look like a fantasy garden. I used Pebeo Studio Acrylic, Pebeo Deco Touch and silver leaves.

I used Pebeo Studio Acrylic with Pebeo Deco Touch and Gold Leaves. I used a palette knife to add some texture and added gold leaves to finish. I rubbed in the Touch with my finger around the edges to highlight the texture. The gold frame was created by applying dots of Touch and then I used a cocktail stick to drag the paint.

I had fun with this sample. I cut out some flowers with Funky Foam and stuck them to cardboard. I then printed these flowers with Gesso and scored them with a cocktail stick. I added Pebeo Touch Deco paint to add some interest to the flowers.

These flowers were printed with my homemade foam stamps and Pebeo Studio Acrylic and Pebeo Deco Touch. I also added some cabachons for a bit of glitz. I made the leaves by cutting a flower in half.

Well I haven’t a lot of spare time at the moment. This has taken all afternoon to load these shots but I thought you would all like to see what I am up to. If you can get to the NEC this week come and say HI and stop to play at one of the FREE workshops.

Stamped Brayered Landscape

Would you love to make a picture like this? Why not come for a 2 hour session and learn how to turn a blank piece of paper into your own little masterpiece.

I did a Google search for card making classes in North Tyneside and there weren’t any listed! Well look no further there are, I teach here in Tynemouth Village in my well stocked Home Studio. I charge £8.00 for two hours tuition all materials and a cup of tea provided, and guess what your first lesson is only £5.00! WOW! What a bargain. Below are some cards that I and my students have made. Why not get in touch and come and join in with the fun? Just click on CRAFT TUITION INFORMATION at the top of the page for my contact details. I can’t wait to meet you!

This lovely card was made by Sheelagh. She wanted a special Mothers Day card and I think we achieved that don’t you?

I made this card for my daughter’s birthday, she loved it and so do I.

I made this easel birthday card for a family birthday. Red and green are usually associated with Christmas but I think it works really well in this colourful card.

Here is a more traditional use of red and green. I made this card for the lovely Eunice last Christmas, she was thrilled with it!

12 Tags of 2012

If you follow Tim Holtz blog you will know that he has decided to produce 12 tags for 2012. One of my lovely ladies Eileen has made this gorgeous tag and managed to upload it to his blog! Hurrah Eileen….. I think she was a little fraught to say the least and it involved joining Flickr, but it was all worthwhile I’m sure as she has done a splendid job. I’m really proud that she succeeded in achieving her goal. I hope you agree with me that she has made a very beautiful tag. Well done Eileen !!!

Complete Beginner

My lovely friend Anna made this!! I’m sure she won’t mind me saying that she is a complete beginner. She was thrilled to bits when she made this masterpiece, and couldn’t believe that it was a blank piece of white paper when she started. I think it is a fantastic piece of art whether she was a beginner or not. Well done Anna!

We made these
